Stuart / Jupiter - Loran Tower, 07-Sept-2001
Purpose:
To Dive the Reefs & Wrecks of Florida -
FOR LOBSTER!
Dive #1:

A. Dive Boat / Location:
It's-U_And-I / Stuart - Peck's Lake - Golden Arches
B. Conditions:
Visibility:
40 ft, much better then the last dive.
Seas:
Well the wind was out of the SE starting at about 10 knots and over 15 knots
by the time we left. The seas started at 1 to 2 ft and ended up 3 to 5 ft from
the SE.
Water Temp:
80 - 83 on the bottom
Skies:
UGH! Before we left the dock, the sky to the SE was very DARK and BLACK. The
WP weather radar showed lot's of yellow and red's on the doppler radar and it
was moving our way.
As we were going out the Stuart Inlet, the skies were very dark to the SE and
there was a low layer at about 1000 ft moving from the SE. It didn't look good
for diving 5 miles off the loran tower.
So, instead of going 10 miles SE and 5 miles off shore into the bad weather, we
went out the inlet and turned SW into Peck's Lake.

Description:
The first dive was at the Golden Arches. Capt Bob needed some special
tropicals from this area. The water was clear, you could see the bottom from
the boat. The depth ranged from 8 ft to 25 ft over the ledge. These are some
awsome ledges. It's shallow water, 20 ft ledges, lot's of undercut for
exploring (and for sharks to hide out in).
This is a great location for snorkeling or beginning divers. There's lot's to
see -reefs and fish. But, unfortunately, there's not many bugs in this area.
I spend 30 minutes circleing the boat out to a hunderd yards. No Bugs. Lot's
of pretty reef and fish, but no bugs.
