Description:
Well, it's been a long time since I've dove West Palm. I 've spent lot's of
time diving in Stuart for Lobster, but have really missed the Colors of the
Breaker's Reef! So, on this free day, I decided to dive with Capt Bob! The
seas were flat, the weather warm, the sun was out! The price of the West Palm
dives has gone up a little, but it's worth it! Our first dive was the Flower
Garden. Usually Capt Bob does a "Wreck & a Reef" dive - the Mizpah or Princess
Ann and then the Breakers. For some reason, he decided to skip the wreck and
do the reefs. The tide was going out - so the Mizpah was a no-go! But we
didn't do any of the new wrecks south of the inlet!??.. Well, the dive was
great. We saw lot's of 1 - 2 lb bugs - all out looking at you saying it's not
bug season! The fish were out by the thousands. The reef's were there in
their colors - red, green, brown etc! It was a great dive!
Dive #2:
. My Dive #392
A. Dive Boat / Location:
The Rampage
, Breaker's Reef
B. Conditions:
Visibility:
30 feet - not the greatest, but better than working
Seas:
Almost Flat - maybe 3 - 6 inches!!
Water Temp:
74 - 76 (Still Fricken Cold for June)!!!
Skies:
Sunny, Clear Blue Sky's - Typial of Florida!! But, there were a few clouds
build up to the east!
Air Temp:
high 80's
C. Dive Information:
Depth & Time:
Me: Genesis Nitrox Dive Computer - 60 ft for 51 min on Air! (22% NTIROX)
Air consumption:
Me: (120 cu ft), 3300 to 1000 lbs, Air
Current:
Still, medium to the North - maybe 1 knot!
Description:
The Breaker's were there in all their glory of color, fish and reef! We saw -
about a dozen 2 pound
bugs, two turtles - one about 50 lbs and 1 1/2 ft long, and one about 200 lbs
about 3 ft front to back. There was a sting big ray (5 ft across) and her baby
(1 ft
across). Again, Lot's of BUGS!!! There were two Green Moray's and several
spotted ones! Our dive Master tried to coax the geen ones out, but they stayed
in their hole. The spotted ones also would not budge - but were treated very
differenty! And typical of the Breakers - several schools of a thousand fish!
Lot's of Grunts and many of all the other varities. Again, a typical
Breaker's Reef dive - lots of color and fish life!
