Sat/Sun Aug 8/9, 1998, WEEKEND OF DIVING AND PICTURES

Dive Trip By Lisa Barahal:

We dove Elbow Reef on Friday afternoon. The vis was 50 feet and the water temp was around 86! It was fabulous...an hour on the bottom and I didn't get cold!!! On Elbow Reef we dove the Wreck of the City of Washington and then the South South Ledges. Both were teaming with fish and made for a lot of good pictures. We saw a couple of the usual nurse sharks and, much to my surprise, some midnight parrots fish...I love those!!

On Saturday morning we dove the Dry Rocks. The first site was The Christ of the Abyss Statue and the second was the North North Dry Rocks. Both had a lot of good photo ops. The first had the hugest stingray I've seen to date and the second had a lot of midnight parrots again!!!

On Saturday afternoon, we dove Molasses Reef. The first site was the Winch Hole and the second was the Spanish Anchor. I got pictures of the Winch and the Anchor! I also saw a HUGE nurse shark who let me get very close to photograph! We actually saw at least three different nurse sharks on Molasses and five to six sightings all together.

Over all it was a great trip. The water was warm and clear and the diving was fun. We dove with Amoray Divers (1-800-4Amoray). The boat is always very roomy even when full and the crew is super and has a nice sense of humor. We stayed with them as well and our room was OK. We got one with a kitchen but it had no stove...I like the rooms on the North side better. Pictures:
